Svinjak
Description
Svinjak (1,653 m) rises dramatically above the Bovec Basin and is one of the most iconic peaks in the Soča Valley. Its pointed, pyramid-like shape has earned it the nickname “Matterhorn of Bovec.” Despite its moderate height, the mountain offers exceptional 360° views of the Soča and Koritnica valleys, and the Julian Alps. The trail begins in Kal-Koritnica and ascends steeply, gaining over 1,200 meters in a relatively short distance—making it a physically demanding but rewarding half-day hike. The summit features two registration boxes, including a charming miniature Aljaž Tower, a symbol of Slovene mountaineering. Svinjak is popular with hikers seeking solitude, great vistas, and a solid workout with a striking finish.
