Kanin
Description
Kanin (2,587 m) is the highest summit of the Kanin mountain range, located on the border between Slovenia and Italy. This mighty peak towers above Bovec and rewards adventurers with unforgettable panoramic views of the Julian Alps, the Adriatic Sea, and on clear days, even the Gulf of Trieste. Known for its rugged beauty, Kanin is part of a 10 km-long karst plateau with dramatic sinkholes, ridges, and some of the world’s deepest caves. The area is also home to the Kanin-Sella Nevea ski resort and a unique cable car that transports visitors from the Soča Valley to alpine heights in just minutes. In summer, it offers challenging hiking, alpine flora, and incredible photo opportunities. The peak is a magnet for geologists, mountaineers, and anyone seeking raw, high-altitude wilderness in the heart of the Alps.
