Boka waterfall
Description
Boka Waterfall, near the village of Žaga in the Bovec area, is the most powerful and one of the highest waterfalls in Slovenia. With a breathtaking main drop of 106 meters and a total height of 139 meters, it thunders down from a dramatic karst spring sourced from the underground rivers of the Kanin mountain range. Even in dry seasons, Boka maintains a steady flow of around 2 m³/s, which can swell to over 100 m³/s during heavy rain, creating a truly epic sight. The waterfall quickly forms a gorge before merging with the Soča River in less than a kilometer. A well-marked, moderately steep 40-minute hiking trail from the roadside parking area leads to a spectacular viewpoint offering panoramic vistas of the falls. Boka is less crowded than some other Slovenian waterfalls, yet its raw power and wild surroundings make it a hidden giant worth discovering.
